Registration is $65, based off greens fees with cart and tax. Refunds/cancellations are available up to one week in advance. In the event of an unforeseen delay or rainout, we'll issuee a refund or credit according to course protocol.

The Whiffers is an invitational tournament. If you know us then you're welcome to register (pending spouse approval). Once registered, you'll be placed on either Team USA or Team Europe. Email us if you'd like to be on a team with someone. Pairing sheets and tee times will be announced one week prior to the event.

The Whiffers is like the Ryder Cup played at Augusta. There are elements of both match play and stroke play. Everyone is paired into a two-person team and play collectively on Team Europe or Team USA. Points are awarded for three matches. Each is worth one point. Matches ending in a draw are worth 1/2 point.

There's also a prize for low team gross, so it's important to finish every hole and continue even if the match is over. We'll evolve this to one Masters-style format in the Spring, and one Ryder Cup format each Fall.

Alternate Shot (Holes 1-6)
Every player tees off. Choose one of your shots, then alternate with your partner until the hole is complete. For example, if your team uses your partner's drive, then you would hit the second shot, your partner hits the third. Etc.

Scramble (Holes 7-12)
Every player tees off. From your team's best drive, you both hit second shots, and so forth from the best next shot until you finish the hole.

Best Ball (Holes 13-18)
Each person plays their own ball. The lowest score for the twosome wins the hole. So if your partner makes a bogey and you make par, your team scores a par. For these holes, individuals will be afforded strokes based on the handicap they provided.

You are required to wear clothes. If they don't match, you may be eligible for the Best Worst Outfit Award. Since there's an element of a team format, uniforms and themes are encouraged. USA = Red. Europe = Blue.

When you register, we'll ask for your skill level and then pair players accordingly. We use a handicap only to pair you and your teammate against another twosome and balance the match. This should make the drama go a little longer. The team that wins overall is the team with the most combined match play points.

Nobody likes math. Regardless of the overall match outcome, your 2-person team can win a low gross title. Congrats on requiring us to do the least amount of counting.

First of all, congrats. You are joining the best of the worst. If you win the low twosome, there will be a jacket ceremony to follow the event. Each jacket is hand sewn with an embroidered patch. You are expected to wear the jacket at future ceremonies. The losing country is expected to buy one round of beer for the winning team, however The Whiffers can not officially enforce this transaction as it's an international treaty.
